Rattan is a group of palms from the tribe (tribus) Calameae which has a climbing habitus, especially Calamus, Daemonorops, and Oncocalamus. The Calameae Puak itself consists of about six hundred members. With a distribution area in tropical parts of Africa, Asia and Australasia.
